CHARLENE - here I need a photo called classroom-lt.jpg - thanks!

"It was a great experience working with the camera, I'd never done that before and it was also cool to work with adults on the documentary. I learned how to operate the camera and interview people."

In the Classroom

In the Classroom is a media literacy and filmmaking course that takes our vision of "giving voice to the voiceless" into local inner-city schools, providing bright youth an outlet to tell their stories as part of their academic curriculum.

Students receive hands-on experience with camera equipment and partake in discussions on important issues that affect their lives, city, and the global community - preparing them for the production of their own personal documentaries. The importance of online media is emphasized throughout the course, so that students will naturally be inclined to distribute their material via the most accessible and far-reaching channel - the internet.

Upon the completion of this intensive course, our students emerge as more confident, socially-conscious individuals, helping to pave the way to college, and ultimately, as agents of change in their own communities.
